And this day happened. Aussie star, Luke Mitchell AKA “John Young” of the remarkable American sci-fi series, The Tomorrow People (which I’m a huge fan of) has flown in to visit Sydney this April to attend the Logies this Sunday, the 27th, and to promote the international series with Fox 8. The series has started airing only a few weeks ago in Australia on Fox 8, while there are only two episodes remaining in the US to conclude the season.
His fans (and the show’s of course) were in for, what I must say, a magnanimous treat as Fox 8 came up with an “intimate” (yes, that’s the exact word used) Q&A/Meet-and-Greet with Luke along with the exclusive Australian screening of episode 4 of The Tomorrow People, “Kill or Be Killed” (which was cancelled for some inexplicit reason). This was held at The Loft in Sydney, a fantastic place sitting against the bay that gave us a great view of the whole harbour setting. (Note: The photos could all look weird because WordPress is having issues displaying the correct proportion or resolution. Click on the photo to see the correct resolution.)
The fans were given the chance to have a one-on-one (or maybe two-on-one?) chat with TTP’s John Young himself. I must say that Luke has been one of the nicest and kindest celebrities I’ve ever met and had the privilege of chatting with. Despite of the inescapable jet lag, and perhaps, the lack of proper rest, he was very friendly and welcoming to everybody, answering every question with gusto and frequent chortling.
It is just quite refreshing to encounter a sought-after international celebrity who is very down-to-earth, well disposed and can generate an instant rapport with his fans (Man, you should see the faces of the women who came. They were enchanted but were trying so hard to be discreet in showing it). It is definitely a day to remember.
As promised, I uploaded some of those photos I took during the M&G. To the ones who are in the photos: if you want a personal copy of your own photo(s), unformatted and un-watermarked, feel free to message me so I can email them to you.
At the end of the M&G session, this guy from Fox 8 wanted us to be a part of a mini ad for TTP on the cable channel (I’m not even sure if we’re allowed to tell others about it just yet). It needed us to act like we teleported in the frame so we had to act our best to look like it! It was hilarious!
Note to the ones who are in the photos: if you want a personal copy of your own photo(s), unformatted and un-watermarked, feel free to message me so I can email them to you. Hope to see you all on the next M&G!
